Domaine du Petit Août

I was born in the Hautes-Alpes and studied viticulture and oenology at Cognac. After diverse experiences in France and abroad, I returned to my native land with the intention of creating my own wine Domaine.

And that is how Domaine du Petit Août came into being in 2009 with just two hectares of old vines that I farmed on a tenancy basis.

Over time, and as the opportunity arose, I acquired parcels here and there to finally arrive at 6 hectares today, spread over 22 plots and 4 communes of the Valley of the Durance.

My vines have been farmed organically since 2013, and will be officially certified as from the 2017 vintage.

Hautes Alpes

Convinced that it is the work in the vines that determines the quality of the vintage, I have concentrated my efforts on the vineyard.
I am helped by seasonal workers for the manual work in the vines: hard de-budding, removing secondary shoots, lifting and attaching, trimming the tops, hoeing and bunch thinning if necessary. The soils are regularly raked.
It is this meticulous work and the control of yields that allows me to obtain ripe, healthy grapes.

Rigorous berry sorting is carried out at harvest time, and my style of low intervention winemaking allows the wines to fully express the characteristics of their mountain terroir.
My objective is to exalt traditional varieties such as MollardEspanenc and Clairette. These indigenous grapes are well adapted to the region and its climate, and produce original wines that are representative of their terroir.
It is this conviction that guides me in my work!
