Domaine Saint André
My Domaine in the Hautes-Alpes is only pocket-sized, but I was the first to tend my vines organically, over twenty years ago.
My vineyard, created from scratch in 1993, covers just 3.2 hectares and produces red, white and rosé wines and even a sparkling wine that can stand comparison with the best of them.
All my vines are planted in terroirs that favour good maturities… limestone clay soils at 600 to 700 metres altitude on fully south facing hillsides that look down over the river Durance.
Our grape varieties
I deliberately wanted to plant well known varieties to imbue them with the aromas given by the southern alpine sun. Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Pinot Blanc, and I was even bold enough to plant Mouvèdre !
With this diversity I am able to satisfy the different palates of those who are passionate about viticulture and wine.
Organic agriculture means I can limit yields naturally. They never exceed 30hl/ha, which allows the grapes to liberate intense aromas.
